Proof 1: The Old Switcheroo!

Elsewhere on this web site I mentioned that Buddy intentionally
violated my copyright and here's a slightly illegible example.

I wrote the gag for the Quigman you see here and it originally ran in the daily papers on April 14, 1993. On July 14, 2001 Buddy re-used the cartoon but only after changing the date and syndicate names (he had switched from the LA Times Syndicate to Tribune Media Syndicate during that period) and removed my name from the signature line.

As proof I offer the two examples (below) taken from the right edges of the cartoons from the two different days it appeared.

Example 1 is a bit hard to see because newsprint is not a perfect medium, but you can just make out "©93" on the lower left. The words "LA Times Syndicate" is the black smudge immediately to its right. On the right you can see the signature, "hickerson/stanfill" and the date, "4-14".

In Example 2, which was taken directly off the 'net, it's easy to see the new dates and syndicate name. What you don't see is my name. Buddy removed it when he moved the signature to the upper left of the cartoon. (See left)
