The cartoon on the left is a scan from the 1990 book "The Quigmans" so I know it originally ran in the late 80's. The regurgitation of the same gag on the right was printed on November 16, 2000. It was used yet again on January 4, 2007.

Buddy's art style was always a little primitive but the new version of the cartoon on the right transcends ugliness and goes right to abusive.

The image above is a close-up of the signature from the original cartoon on the left. The odd, x-ed-out circle was our code icon for gags that I wrote. We gave up on this idea after about a year and started including my real name in the signature.
